PUTTING ON THE RITZ: THE COCKTAIL BABY-SHOWER

Nowadays, moms are becoming moms in nontraditional ways.  I was one of those moms and so is my friend who will be giving birth to her dapper, baby boy,  bundle of joy sometime this October.

Since motherhood is coming in ways different than in previous generations, the way we celebrate is different as well.

Let's talk about non-traditional Baby Showers.

I think a non-traditional shower "sin" (without) the baby games, small plastic confetti babies, and pacifiers is just fine for the new-aged mom.  At first, I was leery to the idea. HOWEVER, this is my SECOND cocktail baby shower and i LOVE the idea.  The cocktail baby shower is a great option for moms who are exiting the party life and still have TONS of close friends who have yet to be acquainted with motherhood.

Don't be discourage however! If you love the corny baby shower themes...they can still be utilized with THE COCKTAIL BABY SHOWER. :-) I suppose for cock-tail baby showers...think more "Girl's Night Out" or "Bridal Shower" when thinking of decor, games, and favors.

My friend has decided on having a "PUTTING ON THE RITZ" COCKTAIL baby shower.

The coloring is non-traditional (black, white, & red).  However, we'll still have a fun cake, baby gifts, and family to wrap up the idea.  Think of re-purposing wedding favors and decor for this theme, minus the wedding gowns.  Throw in some Ostrich feathers, boas, red roses, and black and balloons and you're done!

Most importantly, ask guests to participate in the fun!
Guests have been notified that cocktail attire is requested and the start time is a bit late....7:30 pm and OF COURSE, there will be lots of wine, finger foods, Frank Sinatra, and great conversation to tie the night!

 I'll upload pictures later!

I'm on Twitter! Follow me. @TheTutuTailor

Since social networking is the new way to do business! I started a twitter account! Follow me :-)
I think I'll used my twitter to share the joys I experience and the struggles I battle as I try to grow my business.

I will also try to update you guys on entrepreneurial workshops and other cool events, products, sevices, and giveaways I come across.

Most importantly, fostering positivity is my goal. I just want everyone to be able to pursue their dream and have the resources to do so.  An idea is only the beginning, taking that idea and making it grow is what counts!

    Goodbye Cube Nation, Hello Entrepreneurville!

Since before I can remember I've ALWAYS loved to create. I didn't have any preferences. I experimented with charcoal, watercolor, oils, fabrics, wood, metal, beads...EVERY medium known to man.  All through highschool I was the go-to girl for alterations, fashion show attire, costumes, props, and prom dresses.  However, for some reason, I was never really into 'fashion' because I had my own style that never changed. (Unlike the ever-changing trends of the fashion world.)

When the time came for college, most of my counterparts chose to be Fashion Merchandising majors, etc etc.  Well, that didn't appeal to me.  I had more of an academic mind so I need to have a quantitative major, a Bachelor's of Science. So, i chose Marketing and I absolutely loved it!

I attended Drexel University in 2003 and Morgan State University from 2004 to 2008. I graduated in 2008 with honors with my Marketing Degree and a host of friends and family.

Anwyho, to move the story forward, I graduated at the dawn of the recession that we are now in. I had to make a decision. Experiment with the dynamic and risky world of business, or go federal. Well, I'm a conservative kind of girl so I chose cube nation for 100 :-)

I am still an employee of cube nation to this day, and what a gray, grim world it is. 0_o (<---this is my perterbed face)

Well, TOTALLY annoyed with the grayness of cube nation, I decided to foster my inner me. The more creative side of me, the Monica side of me. So, I created The Tutu Tailor and one day I hope to abandon cube nation, burn it to the ground and flutter free in the world of Entrepreneurship.

This is my journey. Follow my Blog as I find my path to success and grow my business. Feel free to help me. I've always been the helping type, if you need anything from me..my blog is here...just ask.

With that being said, this is my first post. HELLO WORLD, how the heck are ya!? I need one ticket to Entrepreneurville, 1st class.

    About Me

    My photo
I am a mom of a computer crazed lego loving man-child. He's 100% boy. He doesn't even keep the pink crayons in his Crayola boxes. So, naturally, I dream of the day that God decides to bless me with a little princess. Until that day comes, I can just play dress up with yours. :-) Hence, The Tutu Tailor was born into the fashion apparel world.
